💡 MegaBonk FAQ — Common Questions Answered

    Why do people increase difficulty?

Higher difficulty spawns more enemies (more XP!) but also buffs their HP, speed, and damage.

It’s worth doing once your build can comfortably handle the pressure — it pays off fast.

    Demonic Blood — Bloodmark synergy

    What does Bloodmark do?

Bloodmark stacks damage and explodes when it either exceeds the enemy’s HP or times out (~10s). It scales off your character level, not your weapon’s stats.

It’s a sleeper boss-killer: lower your weapon’s base damage, stack attack speed, lifesteal, and Bloodmark%, and you’ll delete bosses before pylons even start.

Cursed Doll — HP% curse effect

    What does Cursed Doll do?

Applies a “curse” to 2 random enemies every second or so, dealing 30% of their HP. Doesn’t stack on the same target, and bosses take reduced damage. Can still trigger on-hit effects.

What happens if I get more than 100% of a stat?

Some stats (like Evasion and Armor) never truly reach 100% — they use hyperbolic scaling. Others, like Luck and Cooldown, scale linearly past 100%. Crit starts tapering off after 200% but still grows.

    Gamer Goggles — critical synergy

    How does Crit scale exactly?

    Going over 100% Crit means multi-crit (or “overcrit”). 101% = 1% chance to double-crit, 300% = guaranteed triple-crit.

Overcrit builds can get wild — the exact formula’s in the community stat scaling sheet.

Giant Fork — Mega Crit source

What’s the difference between Overcrit and Megacrit?

Mega Crit only comes from the Fork item — it’s a unique multiplier, not the same as Overcrit. Both can happen together for massive bursts.

    Clover item (Luck) — MegaBonk

    What does Luck do?

Boosts rarity of level-up rewards, chest drops, and shrine rewards. It has no cap and keeps scaling forever.

Shady Guys roll loot when they spawn, so your Luck only applies on stage entry.

    Kevin — self-damage synergy

Why do people say Kevin is good? He just kills me!

Kevin’s self-damage triggers “on taking damage” effects like Gold Shield, Cactus, and Toxic Barrel. To survive him, build lifesteal or crit synergy (Demonic Blades, Shrines, etc.).

Fun Kevin combos: Corrupted Sword + Gamer Goggles for chaos, Golden Shields + Robinette for gold-to-damage scaling, Toxic Barrel for poison stacking, or Cactus + Thorns + Quin’s Mask loops.

Dragonfire — scales with Size and Duration

    Do Tomes affect items?

Yes — Tome effects like Size and Duration apply to compatible items. For instance, Dragonfire scales with both.

Overpowered Lamp — multiplies on-hit effects

    How does Overpowered Lamp work?

    On-hit effects normally roll once. The Lamp multiplies how many times they roll — 1 Moldy = 40% → 1 Lamp = 40% twice → 2 Lamps = 40% thrice.

This is why it’s capped at 2 — Lamp is absurdly strong in any build that uses on-hit effects.

Wrench — common reroll chase target

    How does the Microwave work?

Lets you reroll a random item of its rarity into another item of the same rarity. Doesn’t break item caps (no 3 Lamps or 2 Anvils).

Perfect for chasing things like Wrench, Moldy Cheese, Unstable Transfusion, or Demonic Blood.

Anvil item — extra weapon stat rolls

    What does the Anvil do?

Adds more possible stat upgrades per weapon level-up. If the weapon doesn’t have enough upgradeable stats (like Aura), it won’t benefit from it.

Anvil item — extra weapon stat rolls

How do I get more than 1 Anvil or 2 Lamps?

Even though they’re capped, you can still buy extras from Shady Guys after you own them, or reroll them via a Legendary Microwave.

Shady Guys won’t offer capped items if you enter the stage already holding them — generate the cap during the stage to keep them in the pool.

    Sniper weapon — targeting example

How do targeting types and randomness work?

Smart targets enemies in front of where you’re moving. Close goes for the nearest one. Randomness controls how many projectiles ignore targeting — 0% = all follow the rule.

Targeting doesn’t affect Swords, Flamewalker, Axe, or Dragon’s Breath. Try Close + 20–30% randomness for a good mix of focus and coverage.
